The Current Population Survey, put out jointly by Census and BLS, contains a myriad of demographic information. Most of the series are available on the web, but few series codes are referenced on the website, so retrieval is difficult. Yesterday, BLS sent me a spreadsheet (1MB) with the series codes arranged by type.
To get this information, identify your series code in the spreadsheet, then go to bls.gov, click the third yellow link titled "get detailed statistics," then "series code." Enter the series codes by hand, then enter additional preferences in the remaining fields.

- For ten years, I worked for the Bureau of Labor Statistics, first as an economist with CES, then as a supervisory economist in the media branch. Prior to that, I worked for the State of Hawaii, as a statistician on a state program overseen by BLS. I left BLS only after much personal reflection, after all, I had enjoyed many good years with an organization espousing data integrity, a goal I shared. My change of lifestyle though, brought me closer to the local community, doing good deeds and experiencing firsthand, the fruits of my labor.
